Your journey begins with your arrival at NJP Railway Station/ Bagdogra Airport, where you’re greeted and transferred to Phuentsholing, the border town that serves as Bhutan’s gateway. Nestled on the edge ofthe Indian plains, Phuentsholing buzzes withlife and cultural fusion. After checking intoyour hotel, you’re free to explore.

After breakfast, complete the immigration formalities and meet your guide and driver at the Phuentsholing border. The road toThimphu is a scenic one, winding through lush valleys and hillsides. Pause at Chojum,where Bhutan’s two major rivers, Thimphu Chu and Paro Chu, converge in a picturesque embrace — a perfect photo opportunity. By evening, you arrive in Thimphu, Bhutan’s tranquil capital.

Begin with a panoramic view of Thimphu from Kuenselphodrang, where the grand BuddhaDordenma statue gazes over the valley. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a sacred structure humming with the chants of devout locals. Dive into the past at the Folk Heritage Museum, and meet Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin, at the Takin Preserve Centre. Enjoy the view from Sangaygang Viewpoint and end the day at the majestic Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and monastic body.

Set off for Punakha, a serene town nestled between rivers. En route, pass through the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m), where on a clear day, Himalayan peaks stretch across the horizon. Stop at the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, a memorial to fallen soldiers. On reaching Punakha, explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, strategically built at the confluence of the Pho and Mo Chhu rivers. Walk the Punakha Suspension Bridge, and visit Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility blessed by the “Divine Madman.

After breakfast, journey to Paro, driving once again through the highland beauty of Dochula Pass and river valleys. En route, make a short stop at Simtokha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s oldest fortresses. Once in Paro, check into your hotel before setting out to explore. Discover Ta Dzong, a watchtower turned museum, and the imposing Rinpung Dzong, rich in Bhutanese architecture. Visit Tamchog Lhakhang, a temple linked by an iron suspension bridge built by the famous bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo.

Today is the spiritual heart of your journey a hike to the legendary Taktshang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. Perched on a cliff at 3,120 meters, it is believed that Guru Padmasambhava meditated here, arriving on the back of a tigress. The hike is challenging yet incredibly rewarding, offering panoramic views and spiritual serenity. After descending, if time permits, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples and a marvel of intricate design.

After breakfast, head for a day excursion to Chele La Pass, Bhutan’s highest motorable pass at nearly 4,000 meters. Surrounded by pristine forest and fluttering prayer flags, the pass offers dramatic views of Mt. Jomolhari, Bhutan’s sacred peak. After this refreshing highland experience, begin your return journey to Phuentsholing.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the peaceful kingdom. Complete your exit immigration formalities and proceed towards Bagdogra Airport/NJP Railway Station, carrying memories of misty valleys, sacred monasteries, and the unmatched warmth of Bhutanese hospitality.
